Horwood House – Our Silverstone Sanctuary

Now look, we promised reviews of greasy breakfasts, comfy beds, and the odd dodgy toilet... but Horwood House? It's in another league entirely. The clue's in the name—an old manor house turned classy countryside hotel—and no, you won’t need to rob the crown jewels to stay here. That alone says something, especially since we choose to book this place every year during Silverstone time.

First Impressions? Chef’s kiss.

Down a half-mile driveway, buried in the lush countryside with views that go on forever, you’ll find this hidden gem. The grounds are beautifully kept, and even the standard doubles (our go-to) are spotless, comfy, and well looked after. After a full day stomping around Silverstone, it’s exactly the kind of peaceful retreat you need.

What’s the damage?
Around £500 for four nights—not bargain-bin pricing, but solid value for somewhere with clean rooms, good food, decent drinks, and most importantly: secure parking. Let’s be honest, that’s top of the priority list. We don’t want to be curtain-twitching all night listening for every cough and creak outside. Your pride and joy will sleep as soundly as you do.

The Room

  • Bed: Big, soft, and seriously comfy.

  • Extras: TV, kettle, cups, and those little coffee/tea sachets. Milk running low? Reception will hook you up.

  • Bathroom: Big enough to move without triggering taps. Bath and shower, strong water pressure. Job done.

The Restaurant

Lovely. Lovely. And—yep—lovely again.
It’s got that “sit back and relax” vibe. Perfect post-race day wind-down. Good food (not cheap, but not “remortgage-your-house” either), with a post-dinner seating area to toast the day’s wins—or just how good your hot lap impressions were.

Outside? A covered teepee setup with soft seats and countryside charm. And if you’ve still got room to waddle, a stroll around the grounds is a must.

Breakfast

£15 a head, all-you-can-eat buffet. If you’re doing Silverstone Festival, get involved. Fill up here, because once you're trackside, it's £20 for brownies and £15 for a hotdog. No thanks.

Parking

Plenty of it, with decent-sized bays. No fear of some Range Rover-driving numpty flinging a door into your wing.

The Grounds

Masses of space to explore. Paths, ponds, a water fountain, tennis courts, and quiet corners to sit with a coffee and take it all in. It’s got that peaceful, posh-but-not-poncy vibe.

Verdict?

Horwood House is our annual bolt-hole for a reason. Clean, classy, comfortable, and car-safe. It’s not bargain-basement, but for what you get, it’s worth every nugget. Treat yourself—after all, you're not just here to camp in a wet field and eat overpriced chips.
