Created by Mugen — Honda’s legendary motorsport and tuning division — the RR took the already brilliant Civic Type R and pushed it into full road-legal race car territory.

The name: RR = Racing renown
And honestly, Honda wasn’t being subtle about the car’s intentions.
Mugen was founded by: Hirotoshi Honda
The company has always existed in a fascinating space between factory-backed engineering and motorsport obsession. While technically independent, Mugen has long been considered Honda’s semi-official performance arm.
The Mugen RR represented the absolute peak of that relationship.
Built from the FD2 Civic Type R platform, the RR wasn’t designed as a cosmetic special edition. Nearly every component was reworked to improve performance.
